Welcome to the Nehemiah Rebuilding Ministry.
We are a registered Australian Charity whose mission is to rebuild the lives of the afflicted in South Sudan. As a Christian ministry our aim is to share God’s love and bring a message of hope as we fight poverty and corruption in one of the poorest countries in the world.
South Sudan is very young nation, having succeeded from Sudan in 2011. Since it’s inception civil war has marred the country and numerous parties fight the government for power. South Sudan is rich in resources, however high level corruption means the people of South Sudan live in extreme poverty. Despite being established for only a few years, South Sudan has the highest level of maternal mortality and female illiteracy rates in the world. It is ranked #1 on the ‘Failed States Index‘, which measures 12 indicators – some of which are endemic government corruption, displacement of refugees, widespread violation of human rights and severe economic decline. South Sudan outranks Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria, however their plight is often unreported by the mass media.
Significant work is needed to bring about change in this country and we believe God is using us as one of his vessels to bring some much needed restoration. Through trips to the country and in the Sudanese community living in Australia, we already seen lives changed and many people turning to Christ.
